Horn is a well-developed game that never fully realizes its own potential. The game almost has everything: (generally) solid controls, a straightforward yet reasonably challenging combat system, a simple yet compelling crafting/inventory meta-game, a well-established world full of exploration, great graphics for a tablet game, even a bit of storytelling to go with it - more than youll see in most places. The only disappointment is that its greatest strength goes unrealized: all the tools exist to create a truly fascinating puzzle-game, but the creators fail to deliver or elaborate on what the introductory levels seem to promise to build on. Instead, Switch A always opens Door B, your next goal is always highlighted in flashing red lights, and that premise never changes.
Horn is fun, but it could be so much more. Im looking forward to seeing if these will finally be delivered in Horn 2, some day.
